Samsung NV24 HD

The Samsung NV24HD has a ten megapixel CCD image sensor coupled to a 3.6x Schneider-Kreuznach Varioplan optical zoom lens that spans the range from an unusually generous 24mm wide angle to an 86mm telephoto. There's an optical image stabilizer function in the lens, and this is part of a dual-pronged approach to camera shake as the NV24 also includes software "stabilization" both in still image and movie modes. Movies look to be the Samsung NV24's forte, with a stereo microphone and the ability to shoot 720p (1280 x 720 pixel) movies at 30 frames per second with H.264 compression. 640 x 480 and 320 x 240 pixel videos are also possible, with the latter resolution allowing up to 60 frames per second shooting, and the NV24HD is unusual in allowing use of the optical zoom during movie recording. Once you're done with shooting high-res images and movies, you can get them onto your HDTV courtesy of an HDMI connection - but only if you purchase Samsung's "HDMI CEC" cradle, an optional extra. Without the cradle, you can still view your images on an NTSC or PAL TV set, but only at standard definition.
